Senior Geologist

About the role

Assala Gabon is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist to lead subsurface volumetric evaluations and design well trajectories across its oil and gas asset portfolio. The role will work closely with the Operations Geology team, supporting drilling planning, real-time decision-making and execution while ensuring alignment with geological targets and operational constraints.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain Petrel static models for mature fields with high well density, including robust petrophysical property distribution modelling.
• Participate in well-by-well and project reviews to support data-driven decision-making.
• Analyse large volumes of geological data to identify sweet spots and optimise field development opportunities.
• Collaborate with Petrophysics, Reservoir Engineering and Production Engineering to identify candidates for drilling and well optimisation, and prepare supporting proposals.
• Critically challenge existing models, well correlations and multidisciplinary interpretations to improve subsurface understanding.
• Ensure full compliance with company HSSE standards and promote a strong safety culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Development Geologist.
• Strong hands-on sedimentological interpretation experience.
• Previous exposure to West Africa and/or pre-salt reservoirs is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Petrel for mature field redevelopment and modelling.
• Experience using Interactive Petrophysics (IP) and Techlog.
• Familiarity with Reservoir Saturation Tool (RST) data.
• Expertise in well log interpretation and determination of key petrophysical parameters.
• Ability to analyse and integrate large volumes of complex geological and dynamic reservoir data.
