Drilling Engineer – Well Construction Design

About the role

The Drilling Engineer will join SLB’s Product and Service Delivery team to design and optimise well‑construction solutions for oil‑and‑gas customers. The role focuses on creating safe, efficient and cost‑effective drilling programs, providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle and driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise technical well‑construction designs and drilling programs to ensure safe and efficient service delivery.
• Identify and implement innovative, cost‑effective engineering solutions that enhance operational performance.
• Evaluate and recommend value‑added technologies, products and services to improve customer results.
• Provide technical expertise during planning, execution and post‑job phases, including design revisions in response to changing well conditions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional subject‑matter experts to mitigate risks and optimise resource utilisation.
• Support incident response, investigations and root‑cause analysis to capture lessons learned.
• Assist commercial and sales teams with technical feasibility studies, tender preparation and engineering input for customer engagements.
• Monitor Cost of Service Delivery (COSD) and analyse performance against design objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in drilling engineering, well‑construction design or similar oil‑field engineering roles.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
• Proven ability to manage technical risk and optimise engineering solutions.
