Workplace Safety Coordinator – Libreville

About the role

The Workplace Safety Coordinator will lead the development, implementation and management of safety, occupational risk prevention, fire safety, emergency response and crisis management policies across all Setrag sites in Gabon. Reporting to the Director of Safety, Railway Safety and Security, the role aims to protect employees and contractors while fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement workplace safety and health policies in line with local regulations and Group standards.
• Manage the HSE management system and ensure its effectiveness throughout Setrag’s operations.
• Monitor regulatory developments and drive continuous improvement of safety standards and procedures.
• Identify, assess and prioritize occupational and industrial risks for employees, contractors and partners.
• Oversee accident, incident and near‑miss monitoring, investigations and corrective action plans.
• Develop and maintain fire prevention, emergency response and crisis management plans, including regular testing.
• Lead a team of approximately 50 staff covering prevention, safety management systems, infrastructure, project safety, hygiene, emergency response and fire safety.

Required profile

• Proven experience in occupational safety, risk prevention or HSE management, preferably in industrial or railway environments.
• Strong knowledge of local safety regulations and ability to ensure compliance.
• Experience managing large, diverse teams and coordinating with contractors of varying safety maturity.
• Ability to balance production requirements, social constraints and high safety standards.
