Senior Drilling Engineer

About the role

Assala Gabon is seeking a Senior Drilling Engineer to support its on‑shore oil and gas operations. The role involves close collaboration with well‑planning, fluid, completion and logistics teams to ensure safe, efficient drilling execution.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Drilling Supervisor and coordinate with rig crews, service companies, and field departments.
• Monitor drilling operations, communicate drilling, fluids, cementing and completion programs to the rig, and lead pre‑section meetings.
• Conduct regular HSE audits, support incident investigations, and ensure compliance with Assala drilling policies.
• Review well program performance, suggest improvements, and participate in After‑Action Reviews.
• Document deviations, raise Management of Change (MOC) requests, and maintain accurate operational records.

Required profile

• Engineering degree with at least 5 years of well‑planning and operations experience.
• Minimum 3 years as a Wells Engineer and 2 years of field experience on rigs (Field Engineer or Assistant DSV).
• Ability to work on‑shore, travel regularly to field sites, and operate in a multicultural environment.
• Fluent in English and French.

Required skills

• IWCF Supervisor Level 4 certification.
• Well planning and drilling operations expertise.
• HSE audit and incident investigation experience.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities.
