Rotating Equipment Specialist (Maintenance Fly Team)

About the role

Assala Energy is seeking a highly skilled Rotating Equipment Specialist to join its integrated "Fly Team" in Gabon. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of rotating equipment across multiple sites, providing technical leadership and mentoring to maintenance crews.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance teams and act as a backup for Mechanical Supervisors and Maintenance Superintendents.
• Develop and implement rotating equipment maintenance and reliability strategies.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment issues according to vendor specifications.
• Mentor trainees, share best practices, and lead technical analysis of day‑to‑day operational problems.
• Collaborate with manufacturers, engineers, and technical experts to improve reliability and integrate best practices into new designs.
• Plan, organize, and execute major maintenance activities and review critical equipment procedures.
• Participate in new or refurbished installation projects, HAZOP/HAZID studies, and MOC initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with HSSE standards, promote proactive safety behaviors, and lead ESG awareness initiatives.
• Identify cost‑optimization opportunities and conduct exploratory studies for budgeting and technical solutions.

Required profile

• Engineering diploma or equivalent; postgraduate degree with specialized oil & gas experience is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in oil & gas operations or maintenance.
• Proven track record in technical management of operations or maintenance.
• Experience with computer hardware/software, especially SAP, PI OSISOFT, PLC & ICSS (desired).
• Specific knowledge of industrial combustion gas turbines, power generators, centrifugal & reciprocating compressors, and pumps.
• Open‑minded, strong team spirit, and ability to transfer skills to others.
