Assistant Manager - Accountant

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Accountant will lead daily finance operations at a construction site in Owendo, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget. This position combines site‑level accounting with strategic financial oversight, reporting directly to corporate finance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day site finance activities, including procurement monitoring, material consumption and vendor performance.
• Develop, monitor and control project budgets, cash flows and cost‑optimization initiatives.
• Approve and verify vendor invoices, subcontractor payments and payroll while maintaining accurate ledgers.
• Ensure statutory compliance (VAT, WHT, labor laws) and support internal and external audits.
• Implement financial controls, strengthen governance and liaise with banks, clients and the corporate finance team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business Administration.
• Professional certification such as CA Inter, CMA, CPA or MBA Finance preferred.
• 5–8 years of experience in construction or project‑based finance.
• Strong understanding of project costing, budgeting and financial controls.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems, specifically SAP.
• Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
