Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

SEGULA Technologies is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of innovative electromechanical and power‑generation solutions for next‑generation aerospace applications. The role combines design authority, work‑package leadership, hands‑on problem solving, and mentorship within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver robust mechanical design solutions across R&D, R&T and product development programmes.
• Own engineering work packages, ensuring technical robustness, schedule adherence and cost targets.
• Create, review and approve 3D CAD models, drawings and bills of materials in line with company standards.
• Produce and review design‑assurance documentation, including calculations, reports, test procedures and analyses.
• Support design investigations, root‑cause analysis and risk‑reduction activities to mature products and concepts.
• Act as technical authority in design reviews and approve solutions produced by other engineers.
• Interface with stress, thermal, validation, industrialisation, configuration and quality teams.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring and informal leadership to project engineers.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience delivering mechanical design work packages in a regulated engineering environment.
• Proven ability to lead complex work packages and influence project direction.
