Production Engineer – Well Performance & ESP Optimization

About the role

The Production Engineer is responsible for daily oversight of well operations, focusing on monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing artificial‑lift systems, primarily Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESPs). The role turns production and loss analysis into actionable guidance for field teams.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure ESPs and associated control/electrical equipment operate within design limits.
• Analyze, interpret, and optimize individual well performance using production surveillance techniques.
• Collaborate with field and onshore operations to meet production goals and cost targets.
• Track daily well and field production losses, categorize root causes, and maintain a loss database.
• Recommend and implement production enhancements, choke adjustments, and gas‑lift rates.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize ESP installations, reviewing downhole gauge and VSD data.
• Prepare and maintain procedures for well starts, restarts, workovers, and artificial‑lift interventions.
• Develop short‑ and long‑term production forecasts and participate in integrated well review meetings.

Required profile

• Analytical, methodical, and data‑driven mindset.
• Experience working within a Production Performance or similar multidisciplinary team.
• Strong communication skills to convey abnormalities and optimization recommendations.

Required skills

• Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP) operation and optimization.
• Variable Speed Drive (VSD) data analysis.
• Nodal analysis and fluid‑flow modeling in reservoirs and wellbores.
• PVT (pressure‑volume‑temperature) analysis of reservoir fluids.
• Pressure and rate transient analysis.
• Proficiency with Prosper, Autograph, and ESP well‑modeling software.
• Production surveillance and loss‑analysis techniques.
