Piping & Structural Designer

About the role

Assala Energy, an oil and gas exploration and production company operating in Gabon, is seeking a Piping & Structural Designer to lead the design, preparation, fabrication follow‑up and site supervision of piping systems and steel structures. The role supports projects from concept through construction, ensuring compliance with specifications, standards and HSSE requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models of piping systems and steel structures and produce 2D layouts, isometric and fabrication drawings.
• Prepare project execution packages, including technical procedures, scopes of work, specifications and method statements.
• Generate material take‑offs (MTOs), review supplier proposals and coordinate procurement activities.
• Monitor fabrication, material deliveries, inspections and quality control, and verify compliance with approved documentation.
• Conduct site surveys, collect field data, supervise installation works and ensure conformity with engineering documents and HSSE processes.

Required profile

• Technical Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Structural Engineering or related field.
• Significant experience in steel structure construction, fabrication environments and industrial piping projects.
• Proven ability to produce and coordinate detailed engineering documentation and supervise on‑site installation.
• Fluent French; English proficiency is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software: AutoCAD, Autodesk products and Cadwork.
• Experience creating 3D models, detailed engineering drawings and piping isometric drawings.
• Knowledge of 3D scanning technology, point‑cloud data handling and material take‑off preparation.
• Understanding of fabrication, welding, piping construction and structural installation practices.
