Environmental Superintendent – Gabon

About the role

The Superintendent Environment will lead and mentor the Ivindo site environmental team in Gabon, ensuring that exploration and study programmes comply with all relevant environmental approvals and legislation. The role also drives the implementation of the Environmental Management System and seeks opportunities for consistency across operational fronts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop Gabonese Environmental Advisors to deliver monitoring programmes, licence obligations and reporting.
• Provide technical direction to onsite environmental personnel, ensuring international quality standards.
• Influence site management to maintain environmental compliance and prepare secondary environmental approval applications.
• Identify and implement technology solutions to improve efficiency and environmental outcomes.
• Lead investigations of unplanned events and ensure appropriate mitigation and risk reduction actions.

Required profile

• Degree in Environmental Science, Management, Engineering or related discipline.
• Extensive knowledge of West African environmental legislation and its application in the resource sector.
• Understanding of Environmental Management Systems and mining industry environmental practices.
• Fluency in English and French; French speaking highly desirable.
• Proven leadership, people and conflict management capabilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Environmental Management Systems.
