Drilling Superintendent (Oil & Gas)

About the role

A major onshore oil and gas operator in Gabon is looking for a Drilling Superintendent to lead health, safety, security, environmental and well control aspects of drilling operations and new rig intakes. The role also covers day-to-day drilling operations, well engineering, team leadership and the Well Delivery Process, with a starting date in Q3 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Lead HSE, well control and contractor oversight; run HAZID and HAZOP for non-routine operations and new technologies
• Manage rig start-up, well programs and day-to-day drilling operations, including equipment, maintenance and performance
• Advise Drilling Supervisors on drilling, completions, workovers and abandonment, and maintain the well engineering risk register
• Own and implement the Well Delivery Process and standards, and act as Contract Holder for drilling services and rigs as assigned
• Lead, coach and develop well engineering teams, manage performance reviews and safeguard company assets
• Manage interfaces with asset teams, contractors, service providers and regulators

Required profile

• Engineering degree or equivalent in petroleum engineering or a related discipline
• Extensive experience in oil and gas drilling and well operations, including leadership roles within wells teams
• Strong analytical and engineering mindset, effective communicator in a multicultural setting, collaborative team player and results-driven
