Drilling Superintendent

About the role

Assala Energy seeks a Drilling Superintendent to lead safe and effective drilling operations in Port‑Gentil, Gabon. The role is the technical authority for well engineering execution, overseeing rig start‑up, performance and stakeholder collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all HSSE, well control and risk management aspects of drilling, including HAZID and HAZOP for non‑routine operations.
• Coordinate rig start‑up, day‑to‑day drilling activities, equipment maintenance and performance monitoring.
• Provide technical guidance to Drilling Supervisors on drilling, completions, workovers and abandonment.
• Manage contracted services, maintain the well engineering risk register and drive continuous improvement.
• Coach and develop well engineering teams, conduct performance reviews and ensure compliance with regulations.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in petroleum engineering or related discipline.
• Extensive oil‑and‑gas drilling and well operations experience, including leadership roles.
• Strong HSE leadership, emergency management and well‑control knowledge.
• Proven ability to work in multicultural, multi‑disciplinary environments.
