Production Engineer (Rotational)

About the role

Assala Gabon, an oil and gas exploration and production company, is looking for an experienced Production Engineer to join its site-based Production Team in Port-Gentil. The role is rotational and sits at the heart of safe, efficient and reliable production across the company's assets, working closely with operations, subsurface, maintenance, drilling and planning teams.

Key responsibilities

• HSE: promote a strong HSE culture, ensure compliance with the Permit to Work system and HSE Management System, support environmental objectives, and act as Deputy On-Scene Commander during emergencies
• Production operations: optimise availability and uptime of producing wells, injection wells and facilities, supervise pigging, scraping, well testing and basic wellhead maintenance, and work with Well Performance, Subsurface and Asset Planning teams on production targets
• Surveillance and reporting: collect production data accurately and on time, maintain production databases, and prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports
• Drilling, workovers and maintenance: support drilling, completion and workover planning, liaise with maintenance teams and help plan major shutdowns
• Technical excellence: develop and review operating procedures, troubleshoot in the field, and drive continuous improvement

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering from a recognised university
• Proven production engineering experience in oil and gas field operations, including production planning, scheduling, surveillance and optimisation
• Good understanding of well performance, production systems and subsurface interactions; experience with drilling, workovers and facility operations is advantageous
• Fluent French and professional-level English

Required skills

• PI System (RTO) and PI DataLink, and advanced Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of production optimisation tools and methodologies
• Prosper or similar well modelling software is desirable
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and decision-making abilities
