Technical Superintendent

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Superintendent to join our local team in Gabon. You will act as the owner's technical representative, providing oversight, assurance and alignment between technical managers, operational teams and project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and performance management of third‑party Technical Managers responsible for vessel maintenance and daily technical operations.
• Ensure fleet compliance with statutory, flag and class requirements, including review of surveys, dry‑docking plans and Planned Maintenance System effectiveness.
• Act as the technical interface between Operations, Projects, Management and external Technical Managers.
• Monitor vessel reliability, downtime and defect trends, identifying improvement opportunities and managing follow‑up actions.
• Review and monitor technical budgets, major repair scopes and expenditure to support cost control and long‑term asset planning.
• Support technical risk assessment and ensure vessel readiness in line with project requirements.

Required profile

• Communicate clearly and professionally in English and French, both verbally and in writing.
• Hold a degree or certification in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or an equivalent discipline.
• Bring substantial technical maritime experience, whether from onboard service, vessel management or supervision of third‑party Technical Managers.
• Have extensive experience with maintenance planning, dry docking and vessel lifecycle management.
• Understand technical risk management, budgeting and technical performance reporting.
• Experience within the West and Central African maritime environment is a strong advantage.
