Resident Advisor – Real Sector Statistics (AFRICENT)

About the role

The IMF Statistics Department and the Africa Regional Technical Assistance Center Central are seeking a Resident Advisor to lead real‑sector statistical capacity development across nine Central African countries. Based in Libreville, the advisor will coordinate technical assistance, training and reporting for national accounts and price statistics.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage an annual work programme covering national accounts, price indices and other real‑sector statistics.
• Coordinate capacity‑development activities with IMF departments, short‑term experts and other international agencies.
• Conduct country missions, deliver regional training and back‑stop expert assignments.
• Apply IMF standards, document activities in the CDMAP portal and contribute to AFC Steering Committee reports.

Required profile

• At least ten years of professional experience in national accounts methodology and compilation.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in economics, statistics or a related field.
• Fluent oral and written communication in both French and English.
• Strong relationship‑management and negotiation skills with national authorities.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of national accounts statistics.
• Experience with statistical capacity development in real‑sector data.
• Familiarity with price index compilation and related macro‑economic statistical frameworks.
