Maintenance Manager / 2IC – Leadership & Safety Focus

About the role

The Maintenance Manager / 2IC will lead a high‑performance maintenance team in Gabon, ensuring a safe work environment while delivering reliable repairs and preventive maintenance for all plant equipment. The role combines hands‑on technical oversight with strategic leadership to maximise equipment availability at the lowest economic cost.

Key responsibilities

• Promote safety as a core value, identify hazards, and manage risk through reporting, JSEA and near‑miss tracking.
• Coordinate training with OEMs and internal trainers, recommend and schedule skill‑building sessions.
• Mentor and coach superintendents, supervisors and national staff to develop their technical and leadership abilities.
• Monitor work progress, enforce quality standards and ensure accurate maintenance documentation.
• Manage inventory levels, liaise with the Stores Manager and minimise parts wastage.
• Oversee preventive‑maintenance effectiveness and ensure compliance with HSE and legislative requirements.
• Maintain audit‑ready maintenance records and support the development of procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in equipment repair and maintenance management.
• Strong knowledge of safety management practices and HSE compliance.
• Proven ability to lead multicultural teams and drive continuous improvement.
