Head of Contracting

About the role

Assala Gabon, a dynamic Oil and Gas Exploration and Production company, is seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Head of Contracting. The role leads the Contracting function, overseeing the full contract lifecycle while safeguarding the company’s commercial, legal, operational, and financial interests.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement contracting strategies aligned with business objectives and ensure effective governance, policies, and standards.
• Provide strategic contractual and commercial advice to executive management and cross‑functional teams.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Contracting team, managing performance, resource allocation, and capability development.
• Drive process standardisation, efficiency improvements, and digital transformation initiatives, including development of templates and playbooks.
• Monitor performance through KPIs, support audits, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

Required profile

• Master’s, MBA, or Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in contract management, commercial management, procurement or related discipline, preferably in Oil & Gas, Energy, Mining, Infrastructure or industrial sectors.
• Proven experience leading complex, high‑value contract negotiations and managing teams.
• Professional certifications such as WCC/IACCM, CPCM or CCCM are preferred.
