Senior Railways Specialist

About the role

NTU International A/S is seeking a Senior Railways Specialist to provide technical, policy and investment support for railway projects worldwide, focusing on Sub‑Saharan Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia‑Pacific. The role will contribute to the Global Gateway Transport and Urban Facility 2 project, starting January 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prepare and implement railway infrastructure and systems projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, project design reviews and investment analyses.
• Support railway planning, corridor development, operations planning and multimodal integration.
• Advise on rail infrastructure, signalling, interoperability, traffic management and safety systems.
• Assist procurement, tendering, implementation supervision, and operation‑and‑maintenance planning.
• Promote low‑carbon, climate‑resilient railway solutions and apply European and international standards.
• Contribute to environmental and social assessments and support policy, regulatory and institutional reforms.
• Provide capacity building and technical assistance to public authorities, infrastructure managers and operators.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in railway engineering, civil engineering, transport engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Extensive knowledge of the railway sector, including infrastructure, operations and interoperability.
• Experience in technical assistance missions for international development projects.
